Street Folk Music is showing where music is going.

I'm Rese Jhordan, local artist and business owner. In addition to this I run Deyland Sound Studio located on the East Side of Newark, Ohio. I grew up in the inner cities of Akron and Canton (Highland Park, stand up!) I then moved to Newark where most of my family is located. I have had a legitimate place in so many walks of life. The big city, the small town, the ghettos of both. I have been a boxer, a skater, I snowboard, I lift, I live hip-hop, I play guitar, I sang in a metal band, a swimmer, basketball player (I'm sicker than you think!) I graduated college from The Ohio State University. Now I work for a private school that specializes in behavior students. Every day is a challenge, but there are many kids there who will benefit and turn it around learning how to play this game called life.

I will use this site for the positive promotion of local artists, I respect their right to free speech and self-expression. There are different realities for many of us in this world some of those harsh. When different worlds meet there are mistakes that can be learned from and goals that can be aspired to.

Music is the focus of this site. Streetfolk Music is here to help art of all kinds in the area to get out there. You will be hearing and seeing some great things in the near future. If you see Streetfolk Presents... on some material please check it out it will be worth it.

The Speak Easy Poetry reading held at Tony's Bar in Newark where I was recognized for my poem "hoarse yodel" a villianelle. In the this poem the main line "death tastes do alive when couple with salt" repeats it means that when we lose a loved one and we cry at the funeral the salt we taste in those tears of mourning remind us how fragile life is and how close to death me are as well. Rest in Peace Sam Stallworth Sr.

My Dad was on Oprah Winfrey! He was working in a karaoke club in California and he performs Louis Armstrong songs with an incredible likeness to his voice and stage presence. Oprah who is a fan of Louis saw my dad on a TV show produced by Dick Clark called Your Big Break. It was hosted by "Kid" from the 90's rap duo Kid n Play as well as Alfonso Revera from The Fresh Prince. Oprah then flew him out to appear on one of her first "Big Surprises" shows! He began working in Las Vegas and has been from that point on.
